Hi, I'm Jackie!

HOW DO I CONNECT?

I specialize in capturing candid, documentary style moments that tell your unique story. I'm in love with people's faces and how the wrinkles on a newborn and those on a beautiful senior all tell different stories. As a mom to a toddler, I now understand how hard it is to get those magical in-the-moment photos of mothers (and dads, partners, caregivers) when you're so busy loving on your kiddo. Selfies are fun, but it doesn't tell the whole picture of what life with a kiddo is really like. That goes for those in a caregiving role for a loved one who may have a developmental disability or a disease like dementia.

My hope is you see what I see in you and your life, even if it's through the fog of your exhaustion. You can do your hair and makeup and put on your best outfit, you can also have your hair unwashed and wear comfy sweatpants, and I will capture how stunning you are as a caregiver. I promise, in my eyes and through my lens you are captivating and I hope you'll see it too.

HOW DID IT BEGIN?

My sister, a news photographer and my mentor, put a camera in my hand before I could spell. Then at age fifteen, I got my first camera - a Canon AE-1. On Christmas morning my sister also gifted me a film developing canister, shoved me in the dark closet, and said, "You gotta learn sometime. Practice rolling your film!" Since then, I'm always looking at life through a different lens.

BACKGROUND

A photographer at heart, I've always had a camera in my hand. Through fifteen years in TV and documentary films, seven years in marketing and fundraising for nonprofits, I understand the power of good visual storytelling. I'm grateful for my time filming in places like Children's Hospital Los Angeles (got an Emmy for a doc with them!), USC Keck Medicine, UCLA, City of Hope and more healthcare environments, I love capturing the real side of caregiving that often goes unseen.

As a caregiver to my mother who had dementia, my sister and I went through the ringer for many years. If you want to get moments with your loved ones, I'm here for you in many more ways than being simply your photographer. I've been there, I cherish all images we have with our mom. Happy to talk!

Thank you for having me be a part of your day so I can show you the beauty, humor, and love I see in your life.
